HqOS Day: Reflecting on a Full Day of Digital Programming

Recently, we announced our latest enhancements to HqOS™, the end-to-end operating system for commercial buildings. As you can imagine, it was an exciting milestone for our company — one that took months of planning and coordination, and a whole lot of teamwork. Since we pride ourselves on our ability to help deliver world-class experiences that connect tenants physically and digitally, we knew that an HqO product launch wouldn’t be an HqO product launch without indulging in the modern engagement tools that we provide to our clients. 

Thus, on the same day of the announcement, we also introduced HqOS Day. From start to finish, we offered a full day of digital programming to our colleagues through our very own Tenant Experience Platform — which, of course, wouldn’t have been possible without the help of a few of our technology partners from our growing Marketplace. The day lived up to its name, proving to be an incredible way to see our technology at work, while also connecting us to our peers both in the office and at home.

At this point, you may be asking yourself: What does a full day of digital programming look like? To show an example, our HqOS Day schedule went as follows:

  • 6:00 am: Peloton Group Ride 
  • 9:30 am: Bodyweight Metabolic Basics hosted by EXOS 
  • 10:00 am: Virtual Volunteering hosted by Building Impact
  • 10:15 am: 30 Minute Flow Yoga, All Levels hosted by EXOS 
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch & Learn — What’s New in HqOS and Why it Matters featuring Frank Supovitz
  • 3:15 pm: 55 Minute Sport Performance Workout hosted by EXOS 
  • 4:00 pm: Happy Hour (virtual or socially distanced in-person option for those working in the office)


Further tying it all together, we also ran a raffle contest alongside our virtual events. The contest encouraged fellow HqOers to share the announcement, photos, and their experiences throughout the day via social media, which then automatically entered them into a gift card raffle. By the end of the day, many HqO employees were actively posting on their social media profiles — proving that excitement is, in fact, contagious.

During HqOS Day, one of my favorite events was the Virtual Volunteering session with Building Impact. We planned this event to align with one of HqO’s core values, which is to do things in the spirit of “goodness.” From our desks, we assembled care packages through their online portal for Catie’s Closet, an organization that helps over 55,000 students in poverty across 85 schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire through providing clothing and toiletries. I was amazed at their level of detail and care, which kept me feeling connected despite being on the other side of a computer screen. Facilitated by our host Bridget Akinc — also the CEO of Building Impact — each person expressed to the larger group what they were grateful for, wrote personalized notes to the students, and posed for group photos. Afterwards, we were notified that we’d receive pictures of our care package deliveries as a touching follow-up.

All in all, HqOS Day received a lot of positive feedback. Many of our colleagues commented on how great it was to be engaged in such a fun and diverse way. For me, nothing was more surprising — or rewarding — than witnessing first-hand how impactful the events were and how deeply they resonated with people, despite the fact that the majority of them were held virtually. Digital programming brought us together in a very tangible way, even while many of us were working from home. It’s no wonder why so many of our clients are already adopting technology to bridge the gap between digital and physical office experiences — because it really does work.
